First prize for girls in dance contest13th March 2009, South Wales Evening Post
A TROUPE of dancers have high-kicked their way to victory. The Western Warriors cheerleading squad, who train at Llangatwg Community School, Neath won their dance section at the Western Classic cheerleading contest in Newport.The Pee Wee group, which features girls between the ages of 10 and 12, beat off competition from nine other groups. It was their first performance in the category, having won last year’s New Squad competition. A special congratulations was heaped on 10-year-old Sophie Hughes, who came second out of 10 in the solo event. Coaches Kerry Dale and Leanne Dickeson said: “We are very proud and we wish them all the best for their next competition in Telford.” |
